The division is headed up by Professor Kim Lovegrove and Managing Partner Stephen Smith. Lovegrove and Smith combined have 50 years of legal experience.  Both lawyers have done numerous VCAT appearances in areas ranging from construction, to planning, to practitioner advocacy in misconduct proceedings.  Professor Lovegrove is a conjunct professor at the University of Newcastle in NSW in building regulation and certification.

Both Stephen Smith and Professor Kim Lovegrove have appeared before the VCAT Planning list as advocates. The firm has had conduct of matters in the Land & Environment Court NSW. Lovegrove Solicitors have also made submissions and appeared before municipalities in hearings before councilors. We sometimes brief external barristers but where possible the firm in the future will be doing its own appearances.
